Terrifying Landslide Strikes Shimla: Dramatic Rescue Mission Underway, Miraculous Survival Hopes!

A landslide took place in the Summer Hill area of Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, on Wednesday, according to an official confirmation.

In response to the news of the incident, a search and rescue operation was launched. Sniffer dogs and rescue personnel were on-site during the compilation of this report.

Bhanu Gupta, the SDM Shimla (Urban), stated, “Local residents have indicated that there could be a total of 21 individuals affected. So far, we have located and recovered 12 bodies within the past 48 hours. Our search and rescue efforts are still ongoing. Our team comprises of NDRF, SDRF, army personnel, local police, and home guards. If we receive any positive information about survivors, we will carry out their rescue operations with utmost care.
Continuous heavy rainfall persists, resulting in widespread destruction across various regions of Himachal Pradesh. This has led to the damage and destruction of buildings and properties.

According to the Meteorological Department in Dehradun, light to moderate rain with thunderstorms is expected in most places in districts like Nainital, Champawat, and Udham Singh Nagar. Similar weather conditions are anticipated in many places in Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, and Almora districts, with a few places in the remaining districts of Uttarakhand also experiencing these conditions.

Furthermore, heavy rainfall is predicted to occur at isolated places in the Pauri, Nainital, Champawat, and Udham Singh Nagar districts of Uttarakhand. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and intense to very intense spells are likely to take place at isolated locations in various districts of Uttarakhand.

In a recent development, the Indian Air Force executed a significant airlift operation to transport 18 army soldiers, offering essential assistance for the ongoing rescue operations following the landslides in Shimla.

According to a statement released by the Indian Air Force on Tuesday, “A Chinook helicopter of Western Air Command airlifted 18 Indian Army personnel and a 3-Ton Mini Dozer in a single sortie for rescue efforts in areas affected by landslides near Himachal Pradesh’s Shimla today.
